Increasing grid congestion slows down energy transition

December 9 2020

From solar parks in Groningen to wind projects in Flevoland, the limiting factor in many renewable energy projects these days is often obtaining a suitable grid connection. Or rather, the limited capacity of that grid connection.

This is because our electricity grid can't keep up with the rapid growth of renewable energy to the extent that it is currently doing. As a result, a suitable grid connection is not available for more than 35% of the distribution network (see photo). And so the growth of sustainably generated energy is inhibited.

The solution: Energy Storage Systems (ESS)

By using ESS in combination with our SemperPower Blackbox solution, we can contribute to the development of a positive business case for your solar or wind farm. Especially in congestion areas and with limited grid connections
